Overview
Looking for a Geodesic Dome Roof?
CST is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of innovative clear-span aluminum geodesic dome roof structures for municipal water and wastewater storage, petrochemical terminals, bulk material storage facilities and architectural structures.
Aluminum Domes
Geodesic aluminum domes are the preferred cover solution for any storage application. Aluminum dome structures are superior to other cover designs of alternate materials due to:
Corrosion Resistance
Aluminum is inherently corrosion resistant versus other alloys. It will last the lifetime of the structure and will not need to be painted or repainted for protection from the atmosphere
Low Lifetime Maintenance Cost
With no corrosion or the need to repaint to protect the structure over time, there is little-to-no maintenance costs associated with an aluminum dome
Clear-Span Capability
Aluminum’s lightweight characteristics allows for larger clear-span cover capability than structures utilizing steel, concrete and other materials
Fast and Low-Cost Construction
Creative design and lightweight components provide for installation in 1/3 the time it takes to install other cover systems. Less time, labor and equipment needs combine for a low total cost of installation
Design Flexibility
Aluminum’s excellent strength-to-weight ratios and creative component design yield covers and structures that cannot be achieved with other materials
The dome’s superior structural design gives it many advantages. Using proprietary variations of geodesic geometry, our domes are noted for their ability to meet exacting live load requirements by providing greater stiffness and strength, pound-for-pound, than any other dome geometry system.
CST domes have been designed for snow loads of up to 165 pounds per square foot and wind loads of up to 150 mph. Our unique panel design is specifically engineered to support loads of up to 500 pounds on any one square foot. We have the ability to design domes up to 1000 feet in diameter.
CST Cover Product History
CST is the worldwide leader in designing, manufacturing and constructing custom aluminum covers and structures for architectural, environmental and industrial applications. CST Covers was created by merging the proud traditions of Temcor and Conservatek, the two leading aluminum structure companies in the world. CST Industries acquired these companies in 2009 and 2010.
Applications
CST’s aluminum dome structures are ideal for the following applications:
Potable Water
Aluminum domes are the preferred cover for potable water storage tanks. Whether it is an above ground elevated water storage application, the aluminum dome is the most durable and lowest lifetime cost solution for thousands of water districts in North America and throughout the world. No other cover design has the corrosion resistant properties of aluminum domes which makes it ideal for tough outdoor environmental challenges.
Petroleum
CST domes help operators achieve regulatory compliance and bring new levels of cost efficiency to storage facility operations. By helping control hazardous vapor emissions and preventing water intrusion, our domes provide environmental and stored product protection and reduce lifetime maintenance and operating costs.
Wastewater
Clear-span aluminum domes provide cover to wastewater tanks while still allowing for space to accommodate process equipment underneath or on top of the dome. Aluminum’s superior corrosion resistance make sit the ideal material for corrosive wastewater applications. Lightweight dome structures are easy and fast to install reducing downtime in municipal and industrial treatment operations.
Bulk Storage
CST aluminum domes are custom designed around a bulk storage facilities specific clearance requirements, basin configuration and bulk handling equipment. Structurally efficient and lightweight, they maximize bulk storage capacity, minimize foundation costs and provide dependable protection form the elements while remaining virtually maintenance free.
Architectural Structures
Aluminum domes are utilized in many different and varied architectural applications. The unique ability of aluminum to weather tough environmental conditions makes it a strong choice of architects and engineers for covers and structures for theaters, gymnasiums, atriums, vaults and custom building envelop shapes and geometric designs.

An Innovative Cover Solution Extends Reservoir Life
Styles come and go, and sometimes reappear. Take hats, for example. What’s fashionable in the 60s went out in the 70s but may come back a few decades later. However, when it comes to municipal water facilities, yesterday’s model is gone for good, replaced by a more contemporary, sustainable design.
