Trough Deck Roofs

Trough deck roofs are an economical method of covering a tank in low load regions and where complete sealing of the deck to the tank is not critical.

Trough Deck Roof

Galvanized purlins/beams secured to brackets bolted to the tank shell are used to support the roof deck and provide a 2 degree (nominal) slope.

The Trough Deck roof is designed and packaged in kit form to be quickly installed using conventional construction tools and a versatile and economical solution for covering water storage tanks.

Depending on roof loading, designs up to 20m (65 ft) in diameter are self supporting which allows the roof to be installed at low levels thus minimizing the need to work at heights. For large diameters and/or high roof loads, column supported designs are incorporated.

Galvanized purlins/beams secured to brackets bolted to the tank shell are used to support the roof deck and provide a 2 degree (nominal) slope. Flashing is screwed to the perimeter of the tank shell and roof and provides an aesthetically pleasing finish.

Corrugated galvanized steel sheets with a 200 micrometer (nominal) tough plastic coating on the external surface and a durable epoxy coating on the underside are overlapped and secured to the purlins with self roofing screws.

Where the tanks are used for the storage of potable water, all internal galvanized purlins/beams/columns will be coated with an approved epoxy painting system to ensure compliance with sanitary requirements.

Insulated and non-insulated designs are available.

Applications

CST's trough deck roofs are ideal for the following applications:

Process Water

If contamination of the liquid from environmental sources is not required by standard and vapor control is not critical, trough deck roofs are an economical solution.

Potable Water

Trough deck roofs may be suitable where simple, cost-effective roof for water storage is desired.
