CST Industries, Conversion Technology (CTI) and Fike Corporation Raise Awareness on New Combustible Dust Standards by Co-Hosting Educational Seminar

10/04/19 Kansas City, MO – The world’s largest and leading bolted tanks and aluminum dome manufacturer, CST Industries, partnered with two industry leading explosion protection companies, Fike Corporation and Conversion Technology, Inc., (CTI) to co-host an educational seminar on the ever-growing topic of dust hazards, design approaches and retrofit issues on storage equipment. The event was organized to both raise awareness of the new combustible dust NFPA 652 standards, which mandates full compliance by 2020, and to educate businesses on basic principles of requirements for identifying and managing fire and explosion hazards of combustible dusts.

The seminar was held in Kansas City on Thursday, September 19th and was attended by 55+ business professionals. The participants enthusiastically listened to explanations from speakers, including Conversion Technology, Inc.’s Brian Edwards who presented on Combustible Dust Hazard Analyses and NFPA Standards. In addition, material was also presented by Fike Corporation’s Bruce McClelland and Adam Batz on Combustible Dust Deflagration Mitigation and NFPA Compliance along with Keith McGuire of CST Industries on Dust Hazards for Storage Systems and Design Criteria and NFPA Influence.

As part of the seminar, a group of panelists were available for a Q&A Session to answer specific questions relating to attendee operations. Coach buses were also provided for transportation to Fike’s remote facility to see firsthand explosion demonstrations.

“The new regulations for Combustible Dust, NFPA 652 covers a wide range of types of combustible dust used in many applications across almost all major industrial and agricultural markets. CST’s partnership with Fike and CTI allows us to educate clients via co-hosting free seminars and we feel this is important to both safety and operations of our customers, stated Tom DeDonder, VP of Operations and Services for CST Industries, Inc.
